The heart of the old town is laid out with parallel streets radiating from the plateau at the top of the hill on which the city was built. Once, this hill was an island surrounded by the sea and by the two estuaries of its rivers, natural harbors of important strategic value.


BY PLANE, you arrive to Malaga Airport. In the airport you can take a taxi or the train (leaving each 10 minutes) to the Central Bus Station (Estación de autobuses). In this station you take an "Alsina Graells" bus towards Almería, which, will bring you to Almuñécar (85 Km).

BY TRAIN, you will arrive to Granada and from there take the bus to Almuñécar (76 Km).

BY CAR, taking the "Autopista del Mediterraneo" (the Mediterranean motorway) from Barcelona along the coast to the south. You arrive to Almuñécar either from Granada or from Almería.
